Allegri’s Famous Miserere

Allegri’s Miserere (Miserere mei, Deus) is a famous 17th-century sacred choral motet composed by Gregorio Allegri around the 1630s for the Sistine Chapel’s Holy Week services. Based on Psalm 51, it is renowned for its haunting beauty, alternating between two choirs and a solo soprano reaching a high C.
